I love Willamette Week, one of Portland’s local free weekly papers, even moreso now that I’m organizing events. They do a great job managing the fiddly listings that are so important to entertainment-oriented papers.
The Jan. 2 edition features a listing about our Powell’s reading on Monday, which is really wonderful.
But even more exciting, our event was named a WW Pick of the Week! (Thanks, guys! That means so much.)
As a former newspaper editor, and–more to the point–a former editorial assistant in charge of getting multiple listings in various papers each week, I so appreciate the care and time the WW staff puts into their calendars. (And it’s great they put them online, too.)
We also have a lovely listing in the other free local weekly, the Portland Mercury, and the Oregonian ran our Powell’s appearance in their Friday A&E guide. We’re definitely lucky here in Portland to have a number of top-notch newspapers.
And for those of you who are interested, I’m planning to launch a blog series on marketing tips, including some how-to information about writing press releases, later this month.
Superb!
