DIY Book Publicity 2025 Cohort
For authors with 2025 publication dates, we’re offering a DIY Book Publicity cohort. Personalized responses to all your publishing questions! Community interactions! Pitch edits! Our goal is to help authors who can't afford to hire their own publicist. Topics include book cover release best practices, cover design feedback, how far in advance to pitch bookstores, blurb getting, and how and where to pitch reviews. We’re using Discord for daily check-ins, questions, and conversations.
Cost is $100/month for this inaugural group with a three-month commitment up front *(this listing is for a three-month commitment) and then month to month. Please only sign up if you have a book coming out in 2025. Self-published, hybrid, or traditional all welcomed. Membership includes access to our DIY Book Publicity Discord channel, which is where conversations and info-sharing will take place, and occasional Zoom meetups.
This is a new project—an experiment, of sorts—in the hopes of creating a viable low-cost, community-focused alternative to book publicity for authors who can’t afford to hire their own publicists. It’s great for anxious debut authors who have constant questions about timing and process but don’t want to keep nudging their publishers for answers. It’s also a way to create a blueprint for book success based on genuine community and information sharing.
Laura Stanfill, cohort leader, is a small press publisher and author with 10+ years of publishing experience. Author Avenues is a side project of Forest Avenue Press LLC, an umbrella organization that includes this cohort, private consulting, and editorial services. Laura’s style is very approachable and human-centered—not about meeting specific social media metrics or beating the algorithm; there are plenty of other resources out there for that kind of support.
If you aren't sure, reach out to authoravenues (at) gmail before signing up, and we can talk about whether it’s a good fit!
